After completing the Learning
Team Charter, answer the following questions:
1)
What
behaviors seemed to help your team successfully complete its task?
To be
honest, more than half of my past classes have involved completing the team
charter within the first week of the start of the class. All of the team
charters that I have been part of have been completed in the format of our own
personal input. Meaning, we don’t complete one as a team. We each add our own
points and during the revision of the final team charter, we all agree to the
terms we have each written. So far, there hasn’t been any issue with either the
way it has been written or with the agreed written points because it seems like
we all agree. We all know that each of us have our own personal lives outside
of school, majority of us work, and we all want to have good grades. In the
behavioral aspect, our number one drive seems to be the wanting to complete the
task to the best of our knowledge; on time or ahead of time; and to earn A’s in
all we do.
2)
What
factors inhibited decision-making and problem solving?
So far,
we haven’t had any issues. We are all grown ups. When and if we do have issues,
we must solve it in the most professional manner possible, to the best of our
abilities and knowledge before seeking help from the instructor. From the MSLD
program, we have gained the knowledge of tools to use to solve our own team problems.
We must either work as a team or designate a leader that will break any ties
and help find solutions.
3)
How much
time was spent on decision-making and problem solving?
Since we
all input the answers to the questions in the team charter from our own
opinions and experiences, we did not spend much time on decision-making. We
just answered the questions to the best of our abilities, while Samantha agreed
to review and submit the final team charter. When issues arise, they should be
dealt with quickly as to help everyone move on and focus on the assignment so
they can be completed and submitted on time.
4)
How was
information shared among team members?
Phil
began completing the team charter answering the questions posted in the team
charter. After he completed his portion, I completed the same questions
underneath labeled “Mere”. These two portions were completed during the first
week of class and posted under the group’s file exchange. As of today, Sam has
completed her portion of the assignment as well and will work on making the
team charter sound as one, meaning as a team’s input and not personal inputs
put together. No real information was shared but everything has been discussed
through the group’s discussion board.
5)
How did
issues of authority or power affect the team?
As
mentioned before, there have not been any issues or problems of authority or
power. From my experience in the past with other groups, we have switched the
leadership position after the completion of one part of the project. For example,
Phil would be the leader of the first group assignment, then Sam would be the
leader of the next group assignment, and so on. Distributing the leadership
authority would give everyone the fair opportunity to be leaders and group
members. Typically, any issues that arise during someone’s leadership position,
it is handled in a professional manner and as agreed in the team charter.
6)
How did
collaboration and competition influence the outcome?
Since it’s a small group, we
are all hands on in the project. We have all collaborated and contributed to
the project fairly and equally. No one has more than they can handle. There
isn’t competition within the group as we are all well aware that the grade of
the group project lies on everyone’s contribution to the team assignments.
7)
Did team
members make process interventions?
As mentioned throughout this
assignment, we have not had any issues so far. Everyone is contributing to the assignment
nicely. We all have good ideas and hope to use our own experiences and
knowledge to the benefit of the team and the team assignments. Everything has
been smooth sailing so far and we all hope that it continues in that form.
