A634.9.5.RB_MedinaM.

Reflecting in the entire course of Leadership Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility, I have to say there are many lessons to be learned in life. Through the knowledge gained, information provided, and reflection about ethics, moral standards, and principles I will be able to use this as a guide to making decisions in the workplace and in my personal life. What I have mainly noticed throughout all nine modules is that it is very important to reflect daily on the feelings, emotions felt, information, conversations, and the relationships we have with others so we can understand how our moral standards and ethics are different from those around us.

Another important lesson is the upbringing, beliefs, and principles vary from person to person. Not everyone is raised the same way, so our moral principles and standards vary. These differences may result in conflict, in which case clear communication of the expectations and explanation of the organization’s ethics will help prevent the situation from escalating.

To be honest, thinking back on all the assignments, the ones I mainly enjoyed were the reflection blogs and the general assignments as each of them gave me the opportunity to reflect on the information provided, the conversations in the discussion board and the opportunity to research the opinions/facts from experts in each field. This helped broaden my view of ethics and of each topic that may relate to ethics and leadership. Although the work at times was very exhausting, lengthy, and confusing, I have valued and appreciated majority of the modules in the course.

The only downside that I noticed to this course is the teacher. It seems, as the teacher did not spend much time challenging, helping, or reflecting on students post. In my opinion, it seems that students who posted their DQ early in the week received most of the praise and attention compared to those who posted their DQ on the due date. I understand that it is a big class and it’s almost impossible to respond to every single post every week but it just seemed a bit biased and it showed preference.

The other downside was the problem of submitting late assignments. Last minute plans, issues, problems due arise and I do not think its fair to try and find out 3 days before the last day of the week’s due assignments if we may be late. Sometimes in the last day, last minute problems arise and it’s not fair that if we try and submit the assignment late we already receive a zero. This happened twice to me, which decreased my grade, as I did not have the opportunity to just submit the assignment late while still receiving the point penalties. Other than this, I don’t think there is anything else to change in the class as every assignment was engaging, relative, and thought provoking. Overall, the courses in the MSLD program so far have worked out great and I hope it only improves on the few small issues it has.
